District 4-4A Forecast
Predictions
1. Frenship: Combination of returning veterans and promising talent should give the Tigers the edge.
2. Abilene Cooper: Cougars are returning serious talent from last year’s Region I-4A finalist squad.
3. Big Spring: Steers should be an offensive force in district with eight starters returning.
4. Hereford: QB Parker Bridwell and a talented offense should help balance out an inexperienced defense, and the Herd should return to the postseason.
5. San Angelo Lake View: Chiefs lost some key talent but will likely challenge for the final playoff berth.
6. Plainview: Bulldogs will be led by their defense, with an offense that still has some work to do.
Superlatives
Best Back: Parker Bridwell, Hereford. QB should deliver a stellar senior season under center after throwing for more than 2,200 yards as a junior.
Best Lineman: Jordan Nichols, Frenship. Offensive lineman will be a force for opposing lineman with his strength, discipline and 6-foot-3, 250-pound frame.
Best Defender: Matt Ritchey, Big Spring. A force for any offense to deal with, recording 94 tackles and two interceptions last year at linebacker.
Best Game: Big Spring at Hereford, Nov. 6. Game could determine the final playoff spot in district.
