1. Lubbock Cooper: The Pirates should have enough firepower to repeat as district champs.
2. Lubbock Estacado: The Matadors can’t be counted out.
3. Dalhart: The Golden Wolves have a habit of playing their best ball late in the season.
4. Perryton: If the Rangers can turn last season’s close losses into wins this year, they might make the playoffs.
5. Levelland: Quality skill players must perform well for the Lobos to contend for a playoff berth.
6. Borger: The Bulldogs must overcome two straight tough seasons.
Superlatives
Best Back: Tae Richerson, Lubbock Cooper. Threw for nearly 2,000 yards last season.
Best Lineman: John Peoples, Dalhart. This 6-foot-5, 300-pounder can dominate on both sides of the ball.
Best Defender: Trey Chandler, Lubbock Cooper. Had 114 tackles last season.
Best Game: Perryton at Dalhart, Nov. 6. The winner could claim the final playoff berth.
