Predictions

1. Wellington: The Skyrockets’ only loss last year was to state champion Canadian.
2. Clarendon: The Broncos are seeking their third straight playoff berth.
3. Wheeler: The Mustangs rely on a solid running game and solid defense.
4. Quanah: To make the playoffs, the Indians would have to beat either Wellington, Clarendon or Wheeler.
5. Shamrock: A new coach, coupled with a new system, could give the Irish hope.
6. Memphis: The Cyclones failed to win a district game last season.

Superlatives

Best Back: Westin Williams, Wellington. A dangerous runner and deep-threat passer.
Best Lineman: Sean Shipman, Wellington. Outstanding on both sides of the ball.
Best Defender: Johnny Gaines, Clarendon. Intercepted seven passes and had 56 tackles last season as a sophomore.
Best Game: Vega at Clarendon, Sept. 4. Like last season, this nondistrict matchup could be a playoff preview.
