Stratford's Bryce Cummings scored on a 4-yard run with 31 seconds to play, and teammate Edgar Guerrero intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the game as the Elks got past Clarendon, 28-20, in a Class 1A Division II area playoff game Friday night in Pampa.
Stratford, the defending state champion, lost starting quarterback Kyle Horsford in the third quarter. He was replaced by freshman Tanner Wright.
Cummings added a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter and a 36-yard touchdown run.
Clarendon was led by quarterback Johnny Gaines, who threw for all three Bronco touchdowns.
Stratford improved to 9-2 and advances to face the winner of Friday's area playoff between Springlake-Earth and Seagraves.
Clarendon ended its season 8-4.
